About Us

Owner Nick Rose started playing guitar at age 10 when his parents won an electric guitar. He was already learning the piano, but the guitar stood out more to Nick. Throughout high school, he played in various bands—jazz, pop, heavy metal, and rock ‘n’ roll- at pubs, festivals, and local cafes.

After high school, still in love with music, Nick decided to further his career in the music production industry. He studied Audio Engineering at JMC Academy, graduating with high distinction. As he pursued audio, he worked in many Sydney venues, TV studios, pubs, clubs, theatres and live festival events.

After many years of working late nights, Nick’s entrepreneurial mindset started to kick in. He knew there had to be more, so he decided to extend himself. Electrical was a strategic addition to his current skill set, and he got a day job as an electrician apprentice.

At the end of his four-year apprenticeship, Nick remained passionate about sound and music. With his growing family at home, he could spend more time with them at the end of the day, and the pay was always better than an apprentice’s wage. The PA People serviced various customers, from small schools and churches to large venues like Sydney International Airport, Parliament House, the SCG, and ANZ Stadium.

After a season, Nick and his family decided to move to Tauranga, New Zealand, where they purchased Alliance AV.

Alliance AV has operated in the Bay of Plenty for over 50 years and has had three owners. It took many forms during this time, including TV repairs, VHS, DVD enhancements, and AV for Motorhomes. It saw the change from analogue to digital broadcast with the introduction of Freeview across NZ.

With the sale of the business in 2015, the motorhomes were split off, and new electrical equipment was added under the new ownership. Although the addition of electrical equipment saw a significant increase in work, it took Alliance away from the core product of AV. Refocusing and pursuing his passion in commercial AV saw some key clients acquire, and larger installations are now becoming a more significant part of the Alliance AV story, one it hopes will continue.
