Alliance AV had the opportunity to provide audio-visual solutions for the TUMI, Kate Spade, and Michael Kors retail stores at Auckland International Airport.
We chose Extron for the video and audio distribution due to its proven longevity, which was essential for these 24/7 venues located on the customs side.
The vertical displays consisted of four Panasonic high-brightness video wall displays and a 32″ LG touch screen, on which shoppers could change the products’ colour or size and order while in the store.
Understanding the needs of a modern church takes both time and experience. Having spent many years behind the audio console, mixing and training young Christians in production, Nick was well-equipped to handle this project.
The scope included two classrooms that could be combined into one larger function space. We equipped each of them with a 75″ professional display and speakers capable of supporting live bands. In addition, we installed speakers in the café, corridors, restrooms, and mothers’ rooms and created an audio link to the main auditorium. The café also features two TVs, which display advertising material or provide a live feed from the auditorium.
When approaching this project, we considered key factors such as functionality, multi-use capability, future-proofing, and budget. The main challenge was integrating multiple screens and speaker zones seamlessly. Typically, this would require separate video and audio switchers and a control system to synchronise them. To streamline the process and reduce costs, we utilised an Extron matrix switcher, which combined audio DSP, video switching, and control functions into one system. This enhanced usability, with each classroom and café equipped with a touchscreen near the light switch, offering preset modes for daily use and advanced options for special events.
This project involved a comprehensive refurbishment of a restaurant, bar, and two function rooms. We installed a projector and TV in the bar and a background music system across three zones, covering the foyer, bar, and restaurant. A wireless microphone was added, enabling the restaurant to host events like weddings and other functions.
Each of the function rooms was equipped with projectors and wireless microphones, ideal for meetings and smaller events. The rooms can also be combined by removing the dividing wall, allowing synchronised audio and visuals for larger gatherings.
Additionally, we upgraded 80+ rooms upstairs from analogue to HD digital, providing 30 channels of Freeview and four channels of SKY, ensuring a modern, high-quality entertainment experience.
When tasked with improving the sound quality in a cathedral, Alliance AV faced the challenge of delivering clear audio without bouncing off the high ceilings. Father Mark had mentioned, “Even with the volume turned up, speech remained unclear.”
We selected the German brand Clear Voice Systems for the project and installed two 3-metre steerable column array speakers. These speakers gave us precise control over sound direction, preventing it from reaching the ceiling and echoing. The result dramatically improved clarity, ensuring that voices were easily heard throughout the space.
Trustpower contacted us about a persistent issue that had existed since the building was constructed. The problem centred around the video conference system in their main boardroom, where callers struggled to hear participants.
To resolve this, we installed two ‘Clear One’ beamforming microphones, one mounted under the TV and another integrated into the ceiling grid. These advanced microphones use multiple patterns and digital signal processing (DSP) to focus on the speaker’s voice.
After observing that some participants sitting near the TV were inadvertently turning away from the microphone, we added a second ceiling microphone to ensure comprehensive coverage.
The result was a seamless audio experience, allowing individuals to move freely around the 30-seat conference table without audio dropouts.
